New Delhi: In a bid to ascertain preparatory measures to handle emergency situation , the Delhi government is going to install warning sirens across the national capital which will alert the public to counter any such situation.

The National Capital of Delhi, which is among the hot favourite spot for terror attacks and is equally vulnerable to earthquakes, does not have sound emergency alert system for the public. In such a scenario, installation of hi-tech sirens will prove to be a remarkable disaster management measure.

According to the sources , the state government has commenced the work on purchasing hi-magnificent sirens in collaboration with the army. As per the proposed plan, the warning sirens will be installed across nine districts in Delhi.

“The work on installing these sirens will be started from April. It will be beneficial to react on emergency situations fast. The general public across Delhi can be alerted simultaneously without wasting crucial time,” the sources asserted.

Vijay Dev, Secretary (Revenue) and Divisional Commissioner, said, “Installation of such sirens is important from the view of disaster management. The government is mulling over installing such sirens in every district. The work will commence from April after the MCD elections are over."
