Four officials have been roped in the SIT, including Tughlaq Road sub-division ACP Sukhraj Kateva, Tughlaq Road police station SHO (station house officer) Pramod Joshi, SP Suresh Kaushik and one inspector from the Crime Branch.

According to a police official, Gopinath Munde’s post-mortem report clearly indicates that his death was caused due to multiple internal injuries following the car accident in the national capital.

The SIT will probe every aspect of Munde’s death. They will investigate whether there was any terrorist connection from Punjab or some other conspiracy involved behind the accident.

The police have yet to receive the report from the Forensic Science Lab (FSL). According to sources, the police have written to the FSL Director in Rohini, requesting him to submit the report as early as possible.

Munde was on his way to the airport on June 3 when his Maruti Suzuki SX-4 was hit by a speeding Tata Indica at the red light on Aurbindo Marg, Delhi. Munde’s neck was fractured in the accident which led to his death.

It was reported by the Intelligence Bureau (IB) officials, district police, traffic police officials and the road safety cells that the driver of the Indica car had jumped the red light which led to the unfortunate incident.
