New York (Agencies): ‘Arrested Development’ which became a cult hit sit-com is set to come up on the big screen with creator Mitch Hurwitz confirming that he is writing the film's script.

Starring Jason Bateman, Portia De Rossi and Michael Cera, the sit-com is about a formerly wealthy and dysfunctional family. It was stopped airing in 2006 and fans have been hoping for a movie ever since, reported news daily.

"Our fans have been so supportive and we're so grateful, so I kind of hate to answer the question until I can say, 'Yep, we've shot it, it opens next week'. Otherwise it feels like we're toying with people and we do not mean to do that. It has just taken a while to get it going," said Hurwitz.

In June 2010, star David Cross said it wasn't happening, but after Serafinowicz, and earlier, Ron Howard, gave fans hope, the film is finally happening.
