Xalapa (Agencies): In another appalling incident, six beheaded bodies were found on Thursday near the city hall in Panuco, officials in the eastern Mexican state said.

A state official said the bodies are yet to be identified till the filing of this report and that military officials were helping to remove the corpses.

Panuco is a city of 35,000 in Veracruz state, which borders on Tamaulipas, one of the state’s most affected by the gory turf fighting between drug cartels.

In January, 15 beheaded bodies were found in the Pacific resort city of Acapulco.

Above 34,600 people have been killed in drug trafficking related brutality since December 2006, when the government of President Felipe Calderon deployed soldiers and federal police in a widespread crackdown on the illegal cartels.
