Ranchi:  The Jharkhand government has decided to pay six-week wage to woman labourers without working under the maternity facilities.


As per the norms of minimum wage rate, Rs 133.81 per day, they would get Rs 5620 without working. Earlier this amount was Rs 1500 only.


Department of building and construction had appealed the state government for this scheme which was accepted by the Department of Labour, Employment and Training which issued the proposal on Friday.


Woman labourers would also be provided bicycles and sewing machines as decided by the government. 

 
In addition to this plan, labourers admitted to hospital for over five days because of illness or accident would get wage of forty days as a financial help.


Labour, Employment and Training Minister Chandraprakash said, “The ambitious decision of the state government has been implemented from April 1. It would be an important step for the social security of labourers.”
