The Skoda Octavia 2013 will be the first car in India to sport the company’s new global design language. The car, which draws a bit from Volkswagen’s MQB, also weighs lesser than the Laura, another popular model from Skoda’s stable. The company said that it has increased the car’s length and width which is quite noticeable from the fact that the new version in 90 mm longer and 45 mm wider than its predecessor. Besides, the wheelbase has also been extended by 108 mm.

The Octavia draws enough inspiration from the VisionD and MissionL Concept which was showcased by Skoda in the last two years. The new avatar of Octavia is much smoother than the Laura, which in turn renders the care sportier. The car will come up with three engine options – 1.8-litre TSI, 1.4-litre TSI and 2-litre TDI. At the same time, the smaller 1.4-litre unit has been the latest addition to the Octavia range.

The Czech car manufacturer has also confirmed that the production of the 2013 Octavia model is currently going on and the present edition of Laura will be taken off-road when the Octavia will hit the market during this festive season.

The car is likely to be priced around Rs 13 lakh and the new Octavia is expected to give competitors in the same category a run for money.
