Seoul, Feb 15 (Agencies): A South Korean man has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife and storing her body for 12 years in a large cardboard box at his daughter's home.

The 20-year-old daughter called police on Saturday after finding a woman's body inside a box wrapped in 10 layers of plastic at her home in Seoul's Yongsan district. Fingerprints showed it was her mother.

The suspect, identified as Lee, 51, was found at Bucheon in the southwest of the capital and is being investigated for murder.

"I kept the body because I was sorry to my dead wife and daughter. I wanted to keep the body forever," he was quoted as saying.

Lee is suspected of stabbing his wife, who was 39 at the time, in June 1999.

He is then thought to have placed the body in a box, wrapping it and moving it along with his possessions to his new home in Yongsan, where his daughter now lives on her own.

The daughter was quoted as telling police she found the body while packing her possessions to move to a new home.
