Twenty-one fishermen were arrested on July 5 and the rest on August 5 for allegedly fishing in Lankan waters.

The Judicial Magistrate of Mannar court Anandhi Kanakarathinam, however, ordered detention of ten boats seized by the Lankan navy, Innocent Fishermen Organisation president, U Arulanandam said.

The 35 fishermen of Pamban, who were already released by a Vavuniya court recently, were still in Sri Lanka, awaiting boats for ferrying them to India.
