The code will be sent by Snapchat to the number linked to the account. The two-step authentication can be switched on inside the settings menu.

Once the function has been set up, users can also store a recovery code, which could be used to retrieve the account if the phone linked to the account is lost or damaged.

Earlier, it was reported that Apple’s text messaging bug that leads to the iPhone crash can also strike with simple text to permanently break the Snapchat text chat.

Snapchat also announced it has cut-off all third-party applications from accessing its data in a bid to show its users that it takes their privacy seriously.

The recent restrictions meant that Windows phone users too would not be able to use any of the third-party apps they relied on to use Snapchat so far.
