"The government is working day and night to provide water to every farm and simultaneously promote optimum use of water under the theme 'more crop, per drop'," Singh said while speaking at an event organised by religious organisation Brahma Kumaris.

The Minister emphasized that the government understands the problems and needs of farmer and is committed to them.

"... we understand the challenges in this sector and before farmers, and that's why we are issuing soil health cards to farmers which will check excessive use of fertilisers and therefore will save money for them," he said.

Singh added that with soil health cards, farmers will have a clear idea about seeds, nutrients and other inputs they should use.

"... in coming days, issuance of soil health cards would boost both productivity of crops and Income of farmers," the Minister said.

Soil Health Card is a printed document which will be given to farmers once in three years for their land holding.

The card will have information on nutrients and other physical parameters. It will also be accompanied by an advisory suggesting the measures that a farmer should take to improve soil health and get a better yield.

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that our farms should feed the world and our agriculture should fill the pockets of farmers, we are working on the same, Singh said.

The Minister added that the government is committed to organic farming.

"... as your organisation is promoting use of organic farming along with meditation, we believe in this concept and I hope your efforts will be of great help to farmers," Singh said.
