The mega success of his grand event in which 33,000 artistes from 155 countries participated and around 32 lakh followers arrived in Delhi under the shadow of environment controversy has shown Sri Sri's stature and his acceptance among all religions.

Popularly known as Guruji, Sri Sri is a founder of 'Art of Living'- a volunteer-based, humanitarian and educational non governmental organizations which was founded in 1981. 'Art of Living' is one of the largest NGO in the world it is functioning in over 156 countries.

Here,  we brought some lesser known facts about the spiritual guru:

1. Born on 13 May 1956 in Papanasam, Tamil Nadu, Sri Sri's first teacher was Sudhakar Chaturvedi, a Vedic Scholar and a close associate of Mahatma Gandhi.

2. The spiritual guru has received doctorate from many premier varsities like– Buenos Aires University, Siglo XXI University Campus,  Nyenrode University and others.

3. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is a noted author as well, he wrote several books such as series of 'ISBN' , Buddha: Manifestation of silence,  God Loves Fun and other.

4. Sri Sri had received his Bachelor degree from St Joseph's College, Bangalore University.

5. After completion of graduation, Sri Sri had been taught by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

6. The spiritual guru held his first Art of Living course in Switzerland In 1983. he had also organised his AoL event in tech hub,  Apple Valley, California in 1986.

7. Sudarshan Kriya, a breathing-based technique is assumed as a core component of the Art of Living courses.

8. Aiming to check social menace, He runs a programme naming  Volunteer For a Better India (VFABI).

9. Sri Sri was conferred with Padma Vibhushan, India's Second Highest Civilian Award in January 2016. Also he was named by Forbes Magazine as the fifth most powerful Indian leader in 2009.
