Washington: A new range of sonic fabric neckties has been designed, which are made of old cassette tape and could be played with a converted tape player. Artist and sound designer Alyce Santoro has released the neckties in collaboration with fashion designer Julio Cesar.

The textile is 50 percent cassette tape and 50 percent polyester thread, reported a news channel. Half beige and half gray, the "sonic superhero dress" was the first garment Santoro made in 2003.

It used 100 individual cassette tapes recorded with a range of sounds-mix tapes, ocean surf, Laurie Anderson, Beethoven, The Beatles and her high school punk band.
