“We’re also happy to tell you about the first raft of Xperia products that we’ll make Android 4.4 KitKat available for. They are: Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1,” mentioned in the blog post. With this, Sony became the first smartphone manufacturer to go ahead with Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade cycle.

Sony will be rolling out Android 4.3 for Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia SP, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 from December 2013, as per the blog post. Sony also confirmed that Xperia T, Xperia TX and the Xperia V will be upgraded to 4.3 Jelly Bean.

Google previously announced that new "KitKat" version of Android will be able to run on inexpensive, low-end smartphones as well as the most advanced devices. The new KitKat version of Android integrates Google search technology directly into the phone in various ways. The phone's contact list allows users to find phone numbers of their personal acquaintances as well as of local businesses, such as restaurants and dry cleaners.
