"Southern India is an important market for the company which aimed to enhance customer engagement and buying experience with the Coolpix zone," he said. While expanding the horizon, Nikon India, a 100 per cent subsidiary of Nikon Corporation, said it found Puducherry as one of the best locations to set up its coolpix zone in the region.

"This would augment demand from the tier II and tier III markets for both the compact and also the D-SLR category," the company said. There were 112 such outlets across the country and the company aimed at raising this to 120 by the end of this year.    

Vice President of Nikon India (Imaging Division) Sajjan Kumar said Nikon enjoyed strong brand recognition in India. The facility in Puducherry would reach out to the growing customer base with this zone.

Nikon India distributes, markets and services complete range of Nikon imaging products, the newly introduced Nikon Sport Optics and Nikon instruments. The 'coolpix zone' here is the fourth in the regions of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
