Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and state president of Samajwadi Party Akhilesh Yadav has announced to observe state-wide bandh on September 20 to protest against the alleged "anti-people" economic policies of the UPA government.

"The state president has directed city and district unit presidents to observe bandh against the wrong policies of the UPA government on September 20," party spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary told reporters here.

In his directive, Akhilesh alleged that by hiking diesel price and limiting supply of cooking gas, the Centre has made life of the people miserable.

Chaudhary said that permitting 51 per cent FDI in multi-brand retail would directly affect 27 crore people.
