New Delhi: Akhilesh is doing what Mayawati failed to do in her tenure as Chief Minister. The newly elected Chief Minister is trying hard to pacify the Centre to release grants meant for the state. And in order to realize this, Akhilesh is working in tandem with MLAs of the opposition parties.

According to sources, the SP is focusing on those proposals which are pending with the Centre for a long time and will select responsible officials of the state to appease the Centre to release the funds.  The administration will soon prepare a list of such proposals. While the SP MLA s will meet the union ministers in this regard, Akhilesh is trying hard to seek the cooperation of opposition parties.

Going by the claims of the senior party leaders, SP will make a move in this regard during the current assembly session. It is to be noted, Mulayam Singh Yadav had taken a similar initiative during his tenure. Mulayam had invited the MLAs of all parties to a feast and sought their support for the development of the state.

Party’s national spokesman Professor Ramgopal Yadav said, “The massive victory of the SP in the state elections proves the faith re-imposed by people in the party. Therefore, we are ready to engage and work in tandem with the opposition to realize this dream”.

The Uttar Pradesh Local Commission office which is located in Delhi is all set to play a major role in the exercise. The commission is responsible for persuading the Centre for the approval of the projects. However, during the past years the commission has not fulfilled any purpose. The party sources claim that the officers posted in the commission will now be held accountable for their work.
