Dehradun: West Bengal Governor and former IB Director MK Narayanan said the troops deployed in Jammu and Kashmir need to have Special Powers Act, if we want a good work by the Army in the valley.

Participating in the 41st All India Police Science Congress at Forest Research Institute (FRI) here on Wednesday, MK Narayanan told reporters that an enforcement of Special Powers Act in J&K provides armed forces the basis to work better.

It is not required to deploy armed forces in Naxal-affected areas, as it is an internal problem which can be addressed by paramilitary and police forces, Narayanan said.

According to him, biological and chemical terror might not be a threat today but it will be one of the biggest hazards in future. We have to find a scientific way to deal with these critical issues, he added.
