A ceremonial reception will be held at the Rashtrapati Bhawan later in the day in honour of the visiting President. Srisena will hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and also will meet with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.


Both PM Modi and Srisena are expected to take fruitful steps to develop economic cooperation between the two countries. Some agreements are also likely to be signed by both the leaders.


The Lankan President will travel to Bodh Gaya on Tuesday and then to Tirupati. He is expected to depart from Tirupati for Colombo on Wednesday.


This is the first overseas visit of President Sirisena after assuming office.
