This is the second time in a row that an Indian face has won the Miss Asia Pacific World crown. Last year, India's Himangini won the same title.

The 21-year-old from Faridabad outshined 49 contestants from different countries. She also won the Best National Costume award depicting the national bird of India.

Egypt's Meriam George and Kazakhstan's Evgenia Klishina, were declared as the first and second runner-ups, respectively.

"This is a dream come true! I am very proud of myself right now and still can't believe that I have won the crown," said the 21-year-old, who thanked god, family and friends, among others, soon after the victory in a statement.

A graduate in Bachelor in Journalism and Mass Communication, Srishti was trained by the ace choreographer Shiamak Davar for her talent round where she was seen dancing to the tunes of a Bollywood medley.

Srishti was dressed in designer-duo Falguni and Shane Peacock's gown and also won best national costume award depicting the national bird of India - peacock.

Post her win, many took to the Twitter to congratulate her. "Congratulations Srishti Rana for making India proud," a post read.

Another said, "Srishti Rana mesmerized the jury and the audience with her poise, beauty and intelligence and came out as a winner."

Yesteryear actress Zeenat Aman was the first Indian to win the title of Miss Asia Pacific back in 1970, while model Tara Anne Fonseca was crowned winner in 1973. Bollywood actress-procucer Dia Mirza won the title in 2000. Actress Namrata Shirodkar was named the first runner-up of the 1993 edition of the competition.
