Ranchi: Former Deputy Leader of Opposition and Bharatiya Janata Party candidate SS Ahluwalia filed his nomination papers at the office of Jharkhand Assembly Secretary for the Rajya Sabha re-polls scheduled for May 3.

A total of nine BJP MLAs including Chief Minister Arjun Munda signed the nomination papers of Ahluwalia as the proposers.

After filing nominations, Ahluwalia said, “I express gratitude towards the party high command, state leadership and the MLAs for reposing faith in me.”

Since the carving out of Jharkhand from Bihar in November 2000, I have been associated with the state and want to serve the people further added the BJP leader.

I am a disciplined solider of the BJP and contesting the RS re-polls on the guidance of party high command opined Ahluwalia.

Commenting on 30 March RS polls in which he was denied ticket, Ahluwalia said, “The decision lies with the party high command. I will not comment on this.”

It is worth mentioning that the Election Commission cancelled the RS polls held on March 30 due to misuse of money and horse-trading.
