Commenting on DMK’s alliance prospects, Stalin hinted that the party may not align with actor-politician Vijayakant's DMDK or Congress, saying ‘the doors of the DMK (led front) have been closed’.

The DMDK has so far remained non-committal about entering into an alliance with DMK. DMK supremo M Karunanidhi had earlier in December last year ruled out an alliance with Congress. The DMK had parted ways with the Congress in March, 2013, over the Sri Lankan Tamils issue.
