Dehradun: In a letter written to Union Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh, former Uttarakhand Chief Minister ND Tiwari requested him to start an air service between Lucknow and Dehradun at the earliest.

ND Tiwari said that this service would benefit the people visiting Hardwar and Chardham yatra. The senior Congress leader also said that the government initiative would also boost the industrial growth in the hill state.

Remarkably, the state government has set up as many as 12,000 industrial units under SIDCUL (State Infrastructure and Industrial Development Corporation of Uttarakhand Ltd.). Most of them have their business headquarters at Lucknow.

Tiwari expressed displeasure over the lack of coordination between the Wildlife Institute of India and the state government in the progress of the 95 projects. He talked to the Principal Secretary Forests & Environment, Uttarakhand over phone and enquired about the exact number of tigers in the state.

Tiwari also requested Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Forests and Environment Jayanthi Natarajan to visit the Wildlife Institute of India. He further said that setting up of AIIMS at Rishikesh will come as a boon for the patients of the state.
