Noida: All the seven accused in Anant Gupta kidnapping case got their statements registered  on Thursday in the Court of Special Judge Deepak Kumar and claimed to be innocent. In next hearing that is sheduled on July 18-19, the Counsel for all the accused would present evidence in their defence.

In November 2006, Anant son of Adobe CEO Naresh Gupta, a resident of sector-A, was kidnapped and could be freed a week later only after paying a ransom of Rs 50 lakh. Later, police nabbed all the accused and recovered Rs 47 lakh from their possession.

ADGC Chaudhary Prem Singh told that accused Chattrapal,Pawan, Santosh, Jitendra, Sunil, Vir Singh and Ram Dayal got  their statements recorded. Chattrapal said that he was employed at Mother Dairy and he is being falsely trapped by some influential people. He denied his involvement in the crime.

Jitendra said that he is innocent and doesnot know either Anant or Chattrapal.

All the accused who were interrogated were posed with a total 110 questions that took 90 minutes time.

In a hearing on June 15, Anant had identified three of the seven accused in the case. Presently,  Chattrapal, Jitendra and Pawan are lodged in Hardoi jail. Other four accused Sunil, Vir Singh Ram Dayal and Santosh have been granted bail in the case.
