New Delhi: Replying to the allegation leveled by BSP general secretary Satish Chandra Mishra in the context of veiling the statues, the Election Commission has said that the statues built on the expenses of the party fund would be unveiled, if the BSP provides detail report about it.

On Januray 15, Satish Chandra Mishra had written a letter to the Election Commission, complaining that there was no formal communication from the EC to the BSP regarding the covering the statues of Mayawati and that of elephants, symbols of the BSP.

Mishra had lodged complaint against the EC that those statues built on party funds were also veiled, whereas, according to the model code of conduct only those statues should have been covered which were built on government expenses.

Rebutting Mishra’s allegations, the Election Commission said that the covering of the statues was to be carried out by government agencies, therefore, the EC did not consider it necessary to inform the BSP in this regard.
