Dindigul/Theni (TN), Jan 07 (Agencies): Special Task Force (STF) personnel, aided by forest guards, are combing Kodaikanal hill areas and those bordering Kerala following reports that Naxals are holed up in some deep pockets.

Officials said that villagers in these areas have been asked to immediately report any movement of strangers to police and not to be lured by offers from Naxals.

Another reason for the search was that police had also received a threat call from Naxals stating that the local police station would be blown up. The operations would continue for another fortnight.

District Forest officer Sampath said that they routinely comb the areas but now have been receiving information of movement of strangers in newer places.

“Forest guards have now been provided with arms to deal with any situation,” said Sampath.
