Srinagar: Mayhem was created at Bandipora district in Srinagar when a stone-pelting incident took place on a Congress rally by some miscreants on Sunday. A dozen of vehicles were vandalised and a few Congress workers sustained injuries in the incident.

Police have registered a case and started searching for the miscreants.  However, local Congress leader and former legislator Usman Majid Bandipora has held Bandipora MLA accountable for it.

According to report, Usman Majid, former legislator of Bandipora, organized a public meeting at the district headquarters. The State Congress chief Prof Saifuddin Soz and state Health Minister Shyam Lal Sharma including other senior leaders were also present in the meeting.

The moment all the Congress workers started gathering, the miscreants hurled stones at them near the Jamia Masjid that led to panic in the area. A quick action by police rescued the Congressmen who attended the public meeting.
