Greater Noida: Taking concrete steps to solve the problems faced by the farmers to get fertilizers, the district magistrate, Hridesh Kumar, has prohibited the storage of fertilizers in godowns.

In a meeting with the officials of Agriculture Department, Kumar said that the step has been taken to prevent black marketing and help farmers with easy accessibility of seeds and fertilizers.

 “Black-marketing has become quite prevalent in the agriculture sector and farmers had to suffer the consequences. Therefore, the storage of fertilizers will not be prohibited to let farmers avail the benefits,” informed Kumar.

Besides, to keep a tab on the sale and purchase of the fertilizers, district level officers have been assigned with the responsibility. The officers are authorized to take actions against those found flouting the norms.

With the commencement of wheat sowing season after Diwali, the district administration has started to sell seeds and fertilizers at subsidized rates. The district has 1080 metric tonne DAP an9915 metric tonne NP fertilizers which is being distributed to godowns and sales centre.
