Chandigarh: Ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections, the strain between the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) - Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) has come into notice that has set alarm bell ringing for the BJP in the state which is reeling under pressure regarding distribution of tickets.

The frequent depositions made by the Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal to form alliance with any political party for defeating Congress in the state has brewed tension between the SAD-BJP relation.

In the last Assembly elections, the BJP garnered support from the SAD to come into power. As many 19 BJP legislators marked victory in the last Assembly lection. However, within last four years the graph of BJP performances in Punjab has drastically gone down.

Meanwhile, the impetus for tickets has led to serious trouble for senior BJP leaders. Many BJP members have already claimed four major seats. State unit leader Ashwini Sharma demands ticket from Pathankot where Master Mohan Lal is the sitting legislator.

Similarly, for the Jalandhar seat Manoranjan Kaliya and city Mayor Rakesh  Rathore have come face to face. There are two claimants for the Phagwara constituency, Chaudhari Swarna Ram and Somparakash Damdar.
