Baquba: Two car bombs and a suicide attack killed 12 people in a wholesale market in north Baghdad on Monday.

The blasts, which left another 48 people wounded, struck a predominantly Shiite town as fruit and vegetable stall owners were crowding the market, purchasing goods for the day's trading, a police officer said.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attacks, but Sunni militants linked to al-Qaeda often target Shiite Muslims, whom they regard as apostates, in simultaneous and mass-casualty bombings.
