Daurala: Over a dozen students of Shri Ram Inter College in Uttar Pradesh’s Daurala fell ill after consuming mid-day meals on Monday.  The students were admitted to the Sir Shri Ram hospital and later discharged after the treatment.

It was reported that a squirrel was found in the mid-day meal. Principal Vijender Singh Tomar has filed a report against the contractor and the supervisor after the episode.  The police have however arrested the supervisor and have seized the food.

Significantly, the state governments have given the responsibility of the mid-day meals to the NGOs.

On Monday, the mid-day meal under the supervision of Shambhudayal was supplied by contractor Ramkumar to students of Sir Shri Ram Inter College. Soon after consuming the meal students complained of nausea and stomach pain.

Meanwhile the sample of the food has been sent for tests.
