Sonipat: Mechanical students of Deenbandhu Choturam Science and Technology University, Murthal, have designed a unique hybrid bike which can be run on petrol as well as battery. Once it’s battery gets charged, the bike can easily cover 40 kilometer with a speed of 25 km/hour. Hybrid bike is vital to curb the sound and air pollution.

Deepak Ruhil, Kapil Garg, Navneet Jangda, Ramesh Yadav, Pankaj Goswami, Mahesh and Yogendra Kumar are final year mechanical engineering students who have successfully accomplished the mission in the guidance of their teachers Dr. Avdhesh Kumar Sharma and Pro. Rajkumar.

The hybrid bike has a system to convert into battery from petrol and vice-versa. Its successful test drive has been completed in front of the University’s vice-chancellor, H S Chehal.

The most attractive feature of the bike is that there is no need to charge its battery separately as it gets automatically charged when it is running on petrol.

When the students were asked about the idea of such creation, they said that they had seen an electronic bike through which they got the idea to design a bike which can be operated with battery as well as petrol. To convert the idea into reality they have changed chemical energy to mechanical energy of the battery with the help of a motor.

The total expenditure of the bike is said to be 50,000. Chehal hailed the students for their brilliant accomplishment and also promised that he would contact Motorcycle manufacturers so that hybrid bike can be available for the commoners.
