Haridwar: Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy on Monday again alleged that Home Minister P Chidambaram had played an important role in allocation of 2G spectrum and said that he cannot escape responsibility in the case.

“It was not only Raja but Chidambaram too was involved in the 2G spectrum allocation,” Swamy contended.

Swamy on December 17 had deposed as a witness against Chidambaram in a special Central Bureau of Investigation court. Swamy has argued in the court to make Chidambaram as co-accused in the case. The next hearing for the case is scheduled for January 7, 2012.

Swamy contends that Chidambaram had endorsed the decisions that allowed A Raja to execute his plans leading to the massive scam in the allocation of 2G waves. Former Telecom Minister A Raja was arrested in February and is presently lodged in Tihar jail.

Speaking at an event in Rishikul Ayurvedic College here, Swamy also targeted social activist Anna Hazare by saying that the present laws are enough to fight corruption.

Hazare is demanding a stronger Lokpal legislation to counter graft and decide to go on a three-day fast starting from Dec 27.
