Lucknow: Her political ambition revolves around her husband and Chief Minister-designate Akhilesh Yadav. In family he is Akhilesh Dada for younger, but for Dimple he is only AD as she lovingly calls him. In order to realize her AD’s wish, Dimple contested Firozabad Parliamentary by-poll elections in 2009 against Congress candidate Rajbabbar.

During her campaign in the 2009 by-polls, Akhilesh helped Dimple understand the ground realities of rural India and also how to establish a cordial relation with the masses.

Although Dimple lost to Congress candidate in 2009, she won the hearts of people of Firozabad. Her rural appeal made her a perfect ‘socialist daughter-in-law.’

After her AD scripted a new chapter in UP by winning the recently concluded assembly elections, speculations are rife that she may re-enter the electoral politics. Akhilesh has keen interest that Dimple plays a key role as Lok Sabha member in making the destiny of the country.

When asked, Dimple just says “I will do whatever my AD wants me to do.”

Kannauj can catapult Dimple to Delhi

Akhilesh Yadav represents Kannauj in Lok Sabha. But once Akhilesh swears in as the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister on March 15, he will have to resign from the Kannauj Lok Sabha seat. The Samajwadi Party workers started to demand that Akhilesh’s wife Dimple Yadav be fielded as party candidate from the prestigious seat.

If she agrees to contest from Kannauj, it will be second time for Dimple to fight the parliamentary seat vacated by his husband.

Interestingly she lost to Rajbabbar in Firozabad parliamentary by-poll in 2009.

Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav was keen to field his brother Shivpal Singh Yadav from Kannauj. Shivpal is not ready to contest Lok Sabha polls paving the way for daughter-in-law, Dimple, to become an MP.

Akhilesh is likely to contest assembly elections from a safe seat falling under Kannauj parliamentary constituency.
