Haridwar: Commenting for the first time on the issue of corruption, well known environmentalist Sunder Lal Bahuguna has called for a long drawn battle to eradicate the menace of corruption.

Speaking to mediapersons on the sidelines of a function in a local college on Tuesday, Bahuguna said the fight against corruption would entail huge sacrifices.

Commenting on the issue of Binayak Sen, Bahuguna said all those who want to fight against government or the corrupt system should be ready to face contempt, insult, and isolation in the process. He recalled he had to undergo all of these throughout his Chipko movement.

Bahuguna also hailed Anna Hazare for igniting the will of the common man to fight against corruption.

Speaking about the need to promote environment conservation, he said a Chipko like movement is the demand of the hour as people are still not very concerned about their environment despite planners coming up with several projects for environment protection.
