1. Mohan Chand Sharma: The braveheart Delhi Police officer, Mohan Chand Sharma was martyred during the Batla House encounter in 2008. Sharma, an encounter specialist with the Special Cell eliminated 35 dreaded terrorists and arrested around 80 militants. He was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra on January 26, 2009.

2. Shivdeep Waman Lande: Shivdeep Waman Lande, an IPS Officer of the 2006 Batch, is an SP with the Special Task Force in Bihar. He hogged lime light after busting spurious medicine mafia in Patna. Lande ensured girls' safety in Patna during his tenure as SP of the capital city of Bihar. When he was transferred from Patna, he received more than 2000 messages and candle marches were taken out in his support. Also, the officer also donates 60 percent of his salary to various social organizations.

3. Daya Nayak: Senior cop of Mumbai Police is best known for bringing an end to the underworld gang wars by eliminating most of the underworld members during the 1990s thus providing great relief to the city. Nayak has reportedly encountered 80 gangsters during his career.

4. Hemant Karkare:
One of the heroes of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, Karkare was martyred in an encounter with terrorists in which he sustained three shots to the chest. Born on December 12, 1954 in Nagpur, the officer was posthumously awarded with Ashoka Chakra for his extraordinary courage in 2009.

5. Vijay Salaskar: Vijay Salaskar, senior Police Inspector and encounter specialist serving with the Mumbai Police was martyred in 26/11 Mumbai terror attack. During his career, Salaskar had encountered almost 80 notorious criminals. He was awarded the Ashoka Chakra posthumously on January 26, 2009.
