Tokyo: Support for Prime Minister Naoto Kan's Cabinet has fallen to 15 per cent, the lowest since the Democratic Party of Japan-led government was launched in September 2009, major Japanese daily The Mainichi Shimbun reported on Monday.

The rate in the weekend survey was down 4 percentage points from the previous survey in July, while the disapproval rating was 63 per cent, it said.

On the future of the country's nuclear power plants, 74 per cent preferred taking time to reduce their number compared to 11 per cent who want them abolished immediately, it said.
