New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday admitted Bihar government’s Special Leave Petition (SLP) challenging Patna High Court’s order in which the High Court had acquitted all the 23 accused of Bathani Tola massacre Case.

Patna High Court had acquitted the accused on April 16 who were earlier convicted by a district court for their involvement in the massacre.

In its verdict, the High Court had said that the grounds on which the lower court had convicted the accused were not strong enough for the conviction of the accused.

The heinous killing at Bathani Tola took place on July 11, 1996 in which 21 people including minors and women belonging to Dalit and Muslim communities were massacred in Bhojpur district of Bihar by upper-caste militia- Ranveer Sena.
