Jammu: The ongoing tussle in BJP cadres of Jammu & Kashmir over the issue of suspension of seven party legislators is likely to have a major impact on the ongoing panchayat elections in the state. BJP National president Nitin Gadkari has suspended seven MLAs from the party On charges of cross-voting in the state legislative council elections,

The BJP is a divided house in Jammu over the suspension as some party workers have extended support to the suspended legislators,whereas have stood behind the party high command.

Due to the ongoing tussle in state BJP, the very existence of the party is in danger.BJP high command has announced Jugal Kishore as the party leader in the state assembly.

The decision was challenged by Chaman Lal Gupta, one of the suspended legislators. Some other suspended MLAs have also supported Gupta on the issue.

The Panchayat elections in J&K started April 16 and will continue till April 30.

The bickering in party cadre has left the state unit in an awkward position in mid of the ongoing panchayat elections.

The next challenge for BJP will be the civic body elections in the state. Till now, BJP dominates the Jammu Nagar Nigam, but the current situation is likely to bring about a change in the power balance.

Party efforts to win the Mayoral elections too have received a major jolt due to the differences between the party members.

BJP leaders are aware of the fact that it would take a long time to put the house back in order.
