World no 9 Sindhu took 45 minutes on Friday to get past Wang 21-17, 21-15, going up 3-0 over the Chinese in career meetings. It was Sindhu's third win over Wang in as many matches. Last year she had beaten Wag at the World Championship in the quarterfinals.

On the other hand, Olympic bronze medallist Saina had a tough time dealing with the world number three Yihan Wang as she slipped to a 17-21 2-21, her seventh defeat to a Chinese, in a 38-minute match.

However, Parupalli Kashyap made it to the men’s singles semifinals, beating Chinese Taipei’s Tien Chen Chou 21-15, 21- 23, 18-21 in a fierce battle lasting one hour 14 minutes.
