"When I got a call from Mumbai, I did not know that they were offering me a role. I thought I got a call from insurance company and told them strictly that I am not interested,” Tanima said.

“Next day, I again got the call but this time somebody had narrated me the whole scenario in Bengali. I did not say them yes for the role at once but eventually I agreed for it,” Tanima added.
The actress is playing a maternal grandmother, who is funny with her antics.
"I did not learn Hindi for my role because my director asked me not to master the language. I used to write the whole script in Bengali first to learn my dialogues in Hindi. I have used only those Bengali words which have become popular," she said.
An avid theater actor, Tanima started her career in showbiz in 1995 with Bengali TV drama 'Jodi Emon Hoto' besides starring in 'Janmabhumi', 'Roopkotha', 'Labonyer Sangsar'.
She enjoyed her Hindi debut as the whole unit in Mumbai did not let her miss her family back home.

'Swaragini', an upcoming show on Colors, narrates the story of two warring neighbourhood families the Bose and the Gadodia with diverse value systems. The show will go on air from March 2.
