"We at present impart vocational training to nearly 40,000 individuals every year across the group. But we now intent to increase it to 5 lakh every year," Tata Sons Chairman Cyrus Mistry said addressing a gathering at  the international trade fair here.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Monday inaugurated the India Pavilion at the fair in which India is a partner country.

Mistry said india has 10 million individuals, who have to come into the workforce and it is unthinkable how we can have all employed unless we have a strong vocational training.

"We are now talking about vocational training in the manufacturing sector. But there is lot to be done in multiple sectors including services, agriculture. There is a lot to be done and a lot can be learned from Germany," he said.

He further said the country will witness customisation in the training space as per the requirements. There will also be diversity in training with more and more women being included in this space.

"We plan to impart vocational training to women," he added.
