Jamshedpur: Tata Steel here on Tuesday inaugurated a compost plant, which is also the first of its kind in the state of Jharkhand. The compost plant was inaugurated on Tuesday to mark the World Environment Day.

The newly constructed plant exemplified private steel major's endeavour to provide civic and municipal services to the residents, putting in use technology and practices of superior quality in building urban infrastructure, according to Tata Steel press release.

The organic waste treatment plant, set up with an estimated Rs 1 crore and having capacity of 50 tonnes per day, expected to work towards maintaining a climate of green economy in Jamshedpur.

The compost plant will ensure safe disposal of Municipal Solid Waste and work towards reducing the pollutants.

Composting will result in production of a stable product which depending upon its quality will be used as a low grade manure or soil conditioner, the release said.
