Teachers’ Day is dedicated to the being who is counted second only to parents. As the academic and educational institutes across the country celebrate Teachers’ Day, President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to microblogging site Tweeter to greet the nation on this auspicious occasion:

Teachers in India have been depicted in different roles, be it education, sports, science, politics, or the others. Teachers’ persona is also depicted on the silver screen with a few leaving an indelible mark on the minds of the audience.

Here we take a look at Bollywood movies that deal with teacher-student relationship:

Taare Zameen Par (2007): Taare Zameen Par's teacher was quite different from conventional masters. The role of teacher was enacted by Aamir Khan. The look of the teacher was modern as he wears jeans, T-shirts with spike hair. His teaching style was student friendly.

Do Aankhen Barah Haath (1957): The milestone movie 'Do Aankhen Barah Haath' was released in 1957 but is still relevant. A compassionate teacher guides six dangerous prisoners. The movie shows how a person can transform the most hard core criminals into kind-hearted human beings.

Satyagraha (2012): Directed by Prakash Jha, Satyagraha is about a teacher's, played by Amitabh Bachchan, fight against corrupt system. The film shows that teacher's role is not limited to the classrooms.

Marry Kom(2014): Directed by Omung Kumar with Priyanka Chopra in the lead role, the movie not only highlights a sportsperson's struggles but also replicates how a good sports teacher transforms an ordinary youth into a world champion.

Chak De! India (2007): Released in 2007, Chak De! India was based on the journey of a hockey coach. Played by Shah Rukh Khan, the character beautifully presented the emotional bonds between players and a coach.
