Dehra Dun/Haridwar: Team Anna on Saturday began its campaign in five election-bound states accusing the Centre of bringing a "toothless" Lokpal Bill which is like a "dead body strewn with flowers".

Addressing rallies, Arvind Kejriwal said the Centre did not want to bring CBI under the net of Lokpal and criticized political parties, including Congress and BJP, for their role in bringing a "weak" bill in the Parliament.

"Be it BJP or BSP, all these parties tried to pass a weak Lokpal bill in the Lok Sabha", Kejriwal said.

He praised the Lokayukta Bill brought by BJP government in Uttarakhand and said all BJP-ruled states must follow suit.

Kejriwal asked the people to vote for candidates with clean image and reject those involved in corruption.

Kejriwal, who along with other members of the core group including Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, addressed a series of rallies.

Later, Kiran Bedi joined the team Anna at Dehra Dun where the members held a separate public meeting to drum up support in favour of a strong Lokpal Bill.

The team Anna also asked the people to reject all those candidates who are involved in alleged financial bungling of Kumbh funds.

Without naming any BJP leader, Kejriwal said "don’t give your votes to accused persons in the Kumbh scam. Instead, send them to jail."

Congress is demanding strong action against former chief minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and Tourism Minister Madan Kaushil in connection with Kumbh funds scam on the basis of the CAG report.

Kejriwal made it clear that Team Anna was not campaigning against any political party in the five election-bound states and said it was a campaign to create awareness among the people for betterment of the society.
