Greater Noida: Armed with some of their demands, a team of villagers from the twin villages of Bhatta and Parsaul village would meet Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Secretary Shashank Shekhar in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Some of the key demands of the villagers include withdrawal of criminal charges against farmers, population and unemployment plaguing the villages, which had become the epicenter of violent protests against the land acquisition policy of the state government.

Notably, the Mayawati government is trying its best to make peace with the farmers after their agitation on May 7 in Bhatta Parsaul where some farmers and policemen were killed in clashes.

A number of members of state Cabinet have already met the villagers.Agriculture Minister Laxmi Narayan Singh, Minister for Rural Engineering Thakur Jaiveer Singh and MP Surendra Singh Nagar went to see farmers and heard their grievances.

After that a meeting was scheduled between the farmers and Chief Minister Mayawati.

After the meeting, the Chief Minister announced a new policy for land acquisition. However, a consensus has not been arrived at over it.
