New Delhi: The Congress is passing through generational shift with Team Rahul gearing up to dominate the party organization. Its foundation stone has already been laid during the Congress Chintan Shivir at Jaipur last month.

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Monday held several rounds of meeting with party leaders of north eastern states before revamping party organization.

It will be interesting to see that how many Rahul supporters are accommodated in the first reshuffle of Congress organization. Soon after assuming the charge of Congress vice-president, Rahul Gandhi hinted at major overhaul of party organization.

Presently, there are nine general secretaries, seven in charges and 35 secretaries in the Congress organization. Besides, Congress president Sonia Gandhi, vice-president Rahul Gandhi, political secretary to the party chief, Ahmed Patel and treasurer Motilal Vora are in the party organization.

Out of the nine party general secretaries, only two-three will be replaced. Sources said that party general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad may lose the post of party general secretary. After the elevation of Rahul as the party vice-president, one post for party general secretary remains vacant.

Rahul will try to induct two young faces as the general secretaries in the party organization. Some members of Team Rahul may be accommodated as party in charges. Some of the secretaries are likely to be elevated to the party in-charges. Apart from it, several young leaders may also be appointed as party secretaries.

Sources said that Rahul has recommended eight names to Sonia Gandhi and her confidants who are finding it difficult in making a balance team.
