"The minister has gone to the PM's residence to submit his resignation from the Union Council of Ministers," a close aide of Reddy's said. Reddy, an MP from Karnool, had joined the Railway Ministry on October 29, 2012.

Pallam Raju resigns

Reddy is the fourth minister from Seemandhra to have resigned in protest against the creation of a separate Telangana state. While HRD Minister Pallam Raju, too, resigned on Friday, Tourism Minister Chiranjeevi and Textiles Minister KS Rao had quit the Union Cabinet on Thursday.

"We requested the party high command on several occasions to send the AK Antony Committee and we were assured that the committee would visit Hyderabad. But, without the committee's visit, the Cabinet yesterday began the process of creation of Telangana," Reddy said.

Cabinet approves creation of Telangana as 29th state

"The Congress party has taken a decision, which I think, they will not go back," he added.

Asked whether the Prime Minister has accepted his resignation, he said Singh asked him not to get emotional. "The Prime Minister knows everything," he said.

Reddy also clarified that he is not resigning from the party. "I am 100 percent in the Congress," he said.
