Ranchi: A cold wave has gripped Jharkhand with Kanke, eight km from Ranchi, registering a minimum temperature of 1.2 degrees Celsius on Monday.

The temperature in Kanke dropped to the season's lowest after registering 2.2 degree Celsius on Sunday, A Wadood, a scientist with the Birsa Agriculture University, said.

Ranchi experienced a relatively more comfortable 6.8 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 22.4 degrees Celsius, according to the Met sources.

Several districts have recorded low temperatures, the sources said. The administration has made arrangements of bonfire at different localities to enable the homeless to beat the chill.
