Lucknow: Scorching heat continued to swelter Uttar Pradesh with maximum temperature remaining up to five degrees above normal in several parts on Monday.
Allahabad was hottest in the state at 46.6 degrees Celsius, five degrees above normal, followed by Banda at 45.8 which was three degrees above normal, Hamirpur 45.2 and Varanasi 45.1, according to Met department.
Mercury was markedly above normal in Allahabad division, appreciably above normal in Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Faizabad, Lucknow, Bareilly, Moradabad and Jhansi divisions.
The Met office has forecast that there will be no respite from heat in the next 24 hours with weather likely to remain dry over all divisions of the state.
