Chandigarh, Jan 15 (Agencies): Cold conditions further relented in Punjab and Haryana with minimum temperature rising by 7 degrees above normal despite rainfall at few places in the region.

Chandigarh had a minimum of 12.7 degree Celsius, up by 7 notches above normal. It also recorded a rainfall of 1.4 mm, MeT office said on Saturday.

In Haryana, Ambala recorded a minimum temperature of 12.3 degree C, six degrees above normal. Hisar had a low of 9.1 degree C followed by Karnal at 11 degree C. Narnaul had a minimum of 8.5 degree C.

In Punjab, Amritsar saw minimum temperature going up by 7 notches and settled at 9.6 degree C, while Ludhiana and Patiala had a low of 9 degree C and 9.8 degree C, respectively.

In the morning, rainfall drenched many places in Punjab including Ludhiana, Phagwara, Madhopur, Shapur Kandi area among others.

MeT said that days are expected to turn dry during next two days in Punjab and Haryana.
